The die is made of sturdy metal and cuts well. However, getting the paper cut out of the dye is another story. I used about 5 different papers. Some came out better than others. One was impossible. The tail fin, fins or whiskers have a tendency to tear no matter how careful I am. The whiskers are especially difficult. On some I just didn't use the whiskers and the Koi still looks okay. One of the ways I had the best luck getting the paper cut out of the die was to use 4 layers of waxed paper between the die and the paper. The die cut is very pretty when you can get it out.
